Loudspeakers installed at intersections to educate public on SOPs Islamabad May 13, 2021 Rawalpindi : The local administration, Rawalpindi has installed loudspeakers at different intersections of the city to educate citizens to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and insisted them to stay at homes during Eid holidays. The law enforcement agencies have been called to enforce the SOPs to check further spread of COVID-19. The loudspeakers have been installed at Kutcherry Chowk, Mareer Chowk, Fawara Chowk, Saddar near Metro Bus Station, Qasim Market Chowk, Seham Chowk, Peshawar Morr Chowk, Rawal Road, Sixth Road Chowk, Jhanda Chowk, Faizabad, Commercial Market, and Adiala Road. The officials of the district administration were also installing loudspeakers in more places.

But the atoll nation of 340,000 people has been grappling with a jump in cases, including a record single-day rise of 1,500 on Tuesday compared with less than 100 cases just one month ago. Countries in South Asia, including its largest neighbour India, have been hit by a massive and deadly new wave of infections. The government of Maldives has decided to temporarily suspend the issuance of tourist visas for travellers originating from South Asian countries Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, the tourism ministry said.

The Government Communications Office (GCO) and the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) have urged the people to follow precautions during the Eid holidays. “It is vital that precautionary measures continue to be followed during the blessed Eid Al Fitr to ensure the safety of our families and society and to support the ongoing efforts of the State of Qatar in limiting the spread of COVID-19,” said GCO on its Twitter account. It also reminded people to wear masks and maintain social distancing during prayers at the mosques, and that indoor gatherings are prohibited as well as maximum of five fully vaccinated people are allowed to gather outside.
